1889 Foundation funds free screenings for peripheral vascular disease

Peripheral vascular disease is defined as any disease or disorder of the circulatory system outside of the brain and heart. It is a leading cause of disability in people over the age of 60, but there are effective ways to treat and manage the condition — especially if the diagnosis is made early. So 1889 Foundation is funding free screenings for people who are at risk of peripheral vascular disease.

  • Are you 50 years of age or older?
  • Are you a diabetic?
  • Do you have high blood pressure?
  • Do you smoke or use tobacco products?
  • Do you have thick toenails?
  • Have you lost hair on your legs?
  • Do you have wounds on your feet that last more than three weeks?
  • Do you have leg pain while walking that subsides when at rest?

If you answered yes to two or more of the above questions, you may be eligible for a free screening. Call 814.534.9271 for screening dates and locations.
